Yes, it was a good day … I’m coming towards the end of my mini-break before I head back to work. Yesterday I mentioned we had a list that we were working through and today we powered through it.
Drop the girl’s car off for a service … check! Pick up glasses from optometrist … check! Buy a mortar and pestle … check! Find some closed-in shoes (for work) for the girl … check! Dropped a load of recycling stuff off at the local community centre … check! Cleaned out the boy’s study room at College and set him up for this year’s subjects with folders/stationery etc. … check!
We are thinking thoughts of the girl moving out into a little flat on her own at the end of this year, so every now and then, we find a good sale on, and buy a few things that she will need. It’s a strange thing, but almost everything she has purchased to date revolves around cooking and the kitchen, as you can see in the image above. It’s easy to tell who has a passion for cooking in our family! I’ll give you a hint … it’s not me!!!
The mortar and pestle is to make pesto, in particular. In fact, as I post this, pasta is cooking, and I’ll be dining on fresh pasta and pesto! Today we found a great sale happening at Robin’s Kitchen, a ‘buy two, get one free’ kind of sale.
She picked up a lasagne baking dish, three mixing bowls, and the mortar and pestle, and saved a fortune. Me? I bought a slotted spoon, I’m that kind of girl.
I must mention, though, that this week she bought a white bathmat and a crystal vase, so maybe not all is lost! She has her eye on some good quality bath towels next. It is fun helping her get ready for the next phase in her life, where she hops out of the ‘nest’ and flutters away a little. Sniff sniff …
